New centre backing medical technologies

The Centre for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technologies in Catalonia (CIMTI) will take advantage and incorporate the knowledge generated in the Catalan health system and other fields of technology to improve the welfare of people using applied technology and medical projects. This was explained yesterday by the Minister of Health, Antoni Comín at a ceremony in the Sant Pau centre in Barcelona. In addition, it aims to improve the sustainability of the system.

The commissioner of the Leitat Foundation, Manel Balcells, said that the centre will have experts in areas such as project development, management and financing who will be in contact with hospitals and health centres Catalan to detect problems, needs and solutions as well as the accessing the knowledge generated. The project will also incorporate other players from traditionally non-medical backgrounds.
